Buy them! Removing a watermark from a stock image is a crime just like stealing a product from a store.

@schumicpi Don't, unless you want to hear from a gaggle of lawyers. Getty will get you! :s

Beware, (to those who don't already know), that Getty own many of those sites with licence-free and royalty-free images and graphics. A few samples are free, but read the terms and conditions thoroughly before you use any of them in your apps or website.

If you want free images and graphics type "Creative Commons" into to Google when you search for an item... and still read the terms and conditions to be safe. ;)

A better question is: why would someone watermark their images? What are they trying to protect? How does it benefit them to watermark the images? What might happen if they didn't? How might they/you feel if they/you put a lot of effort, time, and money (tools, training, materials, etc.) into making the images and someone decided to take them (some might call it stealing) without purchasing them?

It seems odd to be engaged in one form of generating IP like making apps/games (and presumably not wanting your work stolen/copied) while happily taking other people's IP ?

Or to put it another way, how would the OP feel seeing a Getty photographer/contributor - on the Getty forums - asking what's the best way to clone/copy a GameSalad game they'd seen on the App Store !?

A very very weird question !
